I got to know Jantine in Amsterdam where I was in charge of the funeral of a dear friend. She had known this dear friend for years and it struck me that Jantine took up her task with care, attention and love, to take care of a desired floral decoration. She made a beautiful, fabric made, Bloemenband that would come around the basket on the day of the funeral, into which could be inserted flowers that were brought along. Jantine has the ability to listen, empathize and wonder. She also puts her money where her mouth is and I saw her loving attention and decisiveness on the day of the funeral where everything was beautifully taken care of. The Bloemenband® was solid, did not drop down and every flower got a nice spot and the whole thing made an unforgettable impression on me.

I was first introduced to the Bloemenband® during the funeral of a very dear person. The first one who was buried during Corona and so we had to deal with all the distance rules and other Corona measures, such as a limited number of people allowed to be present during the funeral. And so there was the Bloemenband that gave comfort and commitment.

During the short ride from the Amstel River to the Zorgvlied auditorium, everyone could say goodbye by sticking a flower in the Bloemenband® so that the deceased was carried by flowers. What a beautiful and comforting gesture that was and how wonderful to see someone carried by flowers.

The Bloemenband® is a wonderful invention. Because of the bands, I felt we could now embrace my brother-in-law together. With each flower inserted, a love aspect of his life passed by, leaving a giant bouquet of love with him as the shining centerpiece. What a tribute. With a Bloemenband®, the deceased is at the center, he is not buried under flowers, but encompassed by flowers, does so much justice to the feelings of love for him or her.

With a farewell comes flowers. Often they are placed neatly on a coffin or next to it, or a wreath of flowers…. Jantine thought along and came up with the genius idea of putting flowers in a band. Losing a loved one is obviously an unprecedented event. Arranging a beautiful farewell is very important in this regard. About the only thing you can still do for yourself and all the people left behind. A casket or basket is generally rather dull and moody. Jantine’s Bloemenband® made the casket look beautiful and approachable. You didn’t look directly into the coffin because of the sea of flowers, which lowered the threshold to go to the coffin for a final greeting. It was also nice that people could put their own flower in the bands. That automatically created a little ritual. Carrying the coffin became really pleasing to the eye with all the flowers standing upright. Jantine kept up the flowers with care, so it always looked fresh and special.

I wish every bereaved person such a beautiful experience.
